I’m sure you would agree that there are many ways to earn money online in today’s age, but most come with a lot of hard learning curves.  One of the easiest ways to start making money online is getting on the affiliate marketing route.  Hopefully you’ve been doing your research and already found that to be true.

In this post, I am going to go over 4 ways to increase your affiliate earnings that you can use with your affiliate marketing. 

In affiliate marketing you don’t have to create a website, you don’t have to develop any product or service, there’s no refunds or customer support issues for you to worry about, all in all affiliate marketing is a great way to start developing an online presence. 

If you’re already promoting an affiliate product or service and are making money from it, then you’re goal at this point may obviously be to increase your commissions, right?

Since more and more products and services are hitting the online market, it’s imperative that you follow a few steps.

If you want your affiliate commissions to really take off, the steps below are ones you need to really consider;

1.     Before signing up for an affiliate program, do your research.  I think its safe to say that you want to promote a product or service that will pay you the most commission in the shortest amount of time.

Believe it or not, more often than not, some people don’t fully consider researching what they want to promote before investing their time and money into it.  Yes, it’s true.

When you’re doing your research, check the commission structure, make sure it pays well. 

Try to make sure the product or service matches your target audience and already pays other affiliates well.  You’ll soon begin to realize when one isn’t meeting up to it’s expectations or promises – That’s when its time to reconsider if its worth your investment or move on to the next.

You will most likely be one of many affiliates promoting the same product or service, especially if it’s a good one, therefore, you must establish your USP (Unique Selling Proposition).  Set yourself apart, offer that “something extra” that makes you stand apart.

Write an ebook or report and give it away as an incentive to potential buyers.  This can help you gain credibility and drawing power.  

If you can, make recommendations about the product or service within your ebook or report.  

Offer a bonus or bonuses to your buyers.

Provide information that is not only relevant to the product or service that you are promoting but also useful.  When you do this, if what you give away for free is of value, people naturally expect a great deal from where they bought the product.

2.     When giving away an ebook or report, ensure that you’re collecting the email address of those that download your gift.  These email address will create for you an email list and those email address are yours, until the individual that provided it unsubscribes. Its pretty well known that very few people make a purchase during their first introduction of a product or service.  

This is the part where an autoresponder would be greatly beneficial for you to have.  With an autoresponder you can create follow messages to these prospects.  It is said that it takes approximately 7 or so messages before making a sale, so automate this process and capitalize.

Developing an ezine can put you in a great position to be able to provide more value, occasionally free, information to your prospects who now value you as a source of knowledge and useful recommendations.  If you develop a relationship with them (your prospects and buyers) they may stay with you for many years to come.  They will begin to know that they can trust you and your recommendations, and will eventually buy from you again.

3.     Be prepared to negotiate with a seller who has a product or service you want to promote.  Don’t underestimate the power of negotiation.  Remember.. all merchants need affiliates, so they would be more inclined to change their payment structure than to potentially loose business – if they see you as a good source of income.

Don’t be shy about being bold – you can find yourself getting a bigger slice of the pie than you thought.  But don’t be greedy, be fair – you’ll be respected for it.

4.     Your use of effective advertising techniques plays a huge part in your success.  ‘Pay Per Click’ can give you fast results if you do your research right.  Google Adwords is a good place to start, but look around and research some smaller players who offer cheaper rates even if its for smaller audiences.

Another thing, as with any advertising campaigns that you do, its important that you track your results.  Tracking your ads results will help you know which ads are working and which ones are not.
