Staying motivated is crucial in the world of online business success.
And yes I know staying motivated is hard to do, especially when you have a 9-5 job, family to take care of, people around you who perhaps don't believe or support the journey you're on, or you, yourself, get in your way sometimes.
I've had this problem for years! because of all the above, except my 9-5 was really a sporadic type of schedule.
Always found myself trying to figure out how to stay motivated and I found a few tips that have definitely helped me along my entrepreneurial journey.
It's important to stay motivated in anyway that you can, so here I would like to share those few tips with you.
Yes, that seems obvious to some, but believe it or not some people don’t even realize when they are not maintaining a positive attitude. This is very important!
You, and only you, are responsible for your attitude, actions, and changing them when needed. Ever notice when your around positive people or happy people, you feel that way too?
So surround yourself with that.
You must limit distractions and what I mean by that is things like the television, phone, games, etc. If you’re really serious about your goals than you should be just as serious about limiting your distractions - things that can interrupt you.
I realize that some of us have kids and we can’t ‘limit’ that type of distraction but set certain times aside where you know they will be busy and unable to interrupt you, so you can stay focused.
In my situation, I stayed up later - waited for everyone to go to bed or woke up earlier - before any of the kids got up.
You would think this one would be another obvious one but I feel I should include this because it’s important and key to staying motivated on any journey you find yourself on – plus, it helps keep you healthy.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not talking about going out and getting a membership at some gym and working out at the gym a few times a week. I’m simply talking about getting up and doing a few stretches, walking around every now and then, going outside and getting some sun light, etc. – of course this is aimed more towards online entrepreneurs because we tend to sit in front of the computer screen for hours at a time without even realizing how much time has gone by.
Some of us don’t realize the importance of moving around, to not only your physical well-being, but your mental well-being aswell.
Concentrated, tense thinking, typing, content creation, mind mapping – or whatever your work, makes all those muscles tighten up. Then when we move we’re wondering why we’re hurting – we’ve knotted up into a ball of tension that’s why.
Momentarily transport your mind out of your work and into a place of relaxation sometimes.
Set goals for what you want to achieve.
For each goal, set mini goals that lead to your main goal.
This helps you achieve your goals better because your attempts are first focused on these mini goals until you reach your main goal. It’s just an easier way to achieve them.
Once you’ve set your goals, visualizing your future can help keep you motivated.
Write it out.
How will your life be once you achieve your long-term goals?
What will you do with your free time?
What type of home will you be living in? etc.
I don’t know about you but when I’m on a roll mind mapping, creating some form of content such as a post, a video, newsletter, etc.. I just want to keep going and going until I’m absolutely done. Wait, I take that back – I never feel done.. lol.
When I take a break, yes I get away from the computer, but I still found myself thinking about my work I just couldn’t seem to get it out of my head.
There is just so much to do when your in the online business world.
Well… I guess I can take that back too because once you learn how to outsource there’s really not too much for you to do but enjoy life and check on work every once in a while. But anyways that’s later on down the line, when your first starting out you’re going to feel like there is just so much to do.
Take Breaks! Every 2 hours or so you should take a real break.
Perhaps the most important one is to figure out your reason for reaching your goals, your why, and then revisit it or them often.
Why do you want to achieve this (or these) goals?
Saying you want to be a millionaire or have a big mansion does not qualify as a ‘true’ or realistic "why", those are not things that will help keep you motivated.
Think about your real why. Dig deep.
Reasons such as; family, freedom or security will surely help you stay on track towards your success.
What helped me the most in this area was joining The One Funnel Away Challenge. Participating in that challenge actually taught me a lot, but one thing that I did not expect it to help me with was discovering my why.
